Today Jackson and i tried a burger place for lunch when we went shopping for a few things for the new condo. It was amazing...and if you know anything about me, you know I LOVE my burgers!
So today Kamau and Natalie convinced me to go with them to try Dim Sum. I was hesitant as I'm not a very adventurous eater. I wasn't a huge fan, but I did try it! I consider that a point for me. : )
Today we toured Chinatown and visited Buddhist and Hindu Temples. We also visited a museum inside one of the temples that held the Buddha's tooth relic. Since I teach about Hinduism and Buddhism, I found it fascinating! We also visited the Singapore City Gallery, a museum that explained the history of Singapore and it's urban development and future development plans. It was very interesting. Then it was a girls night out for Maria, her cousin Natalie, and me. We made it to Raffles, the hotel that originated the Singapore Sling! We had one and then had a second round bought for us! : ) So at that point we thought why not go to just one more place. LOL! Today we visited the Cloud Forest Dome at Gardens by the Bay. What an amazing place! We also spent a little time in the Flower Dome. There was an orchid festival there this week too. Here are a few pictures from the Gardens by the Bay light show we went to the other night. The last few days were pretty chill. Not much to report. Maria and I just got back from a short weekend trip to Krabi, Thailand. Wow! The Layana Resort & Spa was amazing! The resort was about 90 minutes from the airport. We had to take a ferry and cross another bridge to get to our island, Koh Lanta, but we rode in style. Reclining seats, water and Wi-fi! I think the pictures of the resort speak for themselves. We had a great time relaxing, eating great food, having a few drinks and being pampered at the spa. At the spa we both had the Salt Body Scrub treatment with a facial ($28...yes, that's right! I'm not making it up!) and a pedicure. If I ever make it back there I'm staying longer and experiencing more the spa has to offer! I am one lucky girl! Today I got to celebrate my birthday in Singapore! We relaxed in the morning and then went for lunch at California Pizza Kitchen. Tonight Maria and I went to the Sky at 57 rooftop bar at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. It was amazing! The view, the company and the endless champagne! What a great way to spend my birthday! Thank you!!! Today spent time relaxing at the Hollandse Club in the morning then we were off to explore the Dempsey Hill neighborhood. We had lunch at Jones the Grocer and we will definitely go back. It was great! They also have a high end specialty grocery inside and I grabbed some yummy Sourdough bread. Maria and Kamau went out for dinner so Jackson, Harper and I had a game night! : )
